Today, the Danish Music Publishers announced this year’s nominations for the Carl Award 2020.
My double concerto Nachtmusik is nominated in the category Classical Composition of the Year – large ensemble.
I’m very honoured to be nominated in the company of some of the composers, musicians and songwriters that I admire.
Heartfelt thanks to the jury for this honor and thank you to all involved in my work with Nachtmusik.
Especially the two soloists Christina Åstrand and Per Salo for your heartwarming openness, kindness and beautiful playing, conductor Ryan Bancroft for all your encouragements and support and the musicians in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra for your passion and good advice.
The award ceremony will take place August 24th 2020 in Copenhagen.
Nachtmusik was commissioned by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and premiered September 5th 2019 in the DR Koncerthuset with Christina Åstrand (violin) and Per Salo (piano), Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Ryan Bancroft on the podium.
Nachtmusik also received a Special Recognition from the Danish Arts Foundation in November 2019 and was released on an album by Dacapo Records in December 2019.
